In-Person Learning to Begin Second Semester

While the course of this school year has had many ups and downs and many lefts and rights, the second semester will bring the most significant change of all. On Monday, January 4th, 2021, Mineral Point Schools will be returning to a four-day-per-week, In-Person Model. Hopefully, this article can clear up some unknowns before we return.

DAILY CLASS SCHEDULE

The Daily Class Schedule will no longer be the 7, 50-minute period schedule that has been used for the entirety of the first semester. Instead, we will be returning to our original 8, 45-minute period schedule that we have used in previous years. Doors will open each day at 7:45 AM, and Middle School Students are to report to the cafeteria to begin the day. The day will conclude with a 25-minute RTI period. Middle School Homework Club will be available to students who choose to or need to attend. Students will receive their schedules before returning,

VIRTUAL LEARNING OPTION

Students can choose to remain All-Virtual. Like the first semester, virtual students will be expected to log on to Zoom each hour, following their provided schedules. Students will also be marked absent for the day if two or more Zooms are missed. Regular attendance policies will be in place for every student. If a student chooses to go virtual, they must remain virtual for two weeks before having the opportunity to return to the In-Person model.

WEDNESDAYS

Advisory groups will meet in the morning from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. All students will meet with their advisory groups. Wednesdays will also be opportunities to catch up on work, continue to work on material from Tuesday, or to take part in enrichment activities assigned by teachers. However, students who have a missing piece or are failing will have to attend meetings on Wednesday to catch up. Teachers will have Zoom Office Hours from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM every Wednesday.

SAFETY NOTES

  • Masks will be worn correctly at all times, over the nose and the mouth
  • Classrooms will be cleaned at the end of each day
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available in each classroom and around the building
  • Social Distancing will be limited and Desks/Tables will not be wiped down in between classes
  • Seating charts will be required in every classroom
  • Music Classes will occur with limited social distancing, but air purifiers will be used to circulate air
  • Lunch will be served in the Cafeteria and Small Gym to free up space
  • Lockers will be used, but only for coats and gym bags, as backpacks can still be carried around
  • Weight Room and Wrestling Room will be used as classroom space for PE Classes
