Last night the Mineral Point Pointers Girls basketball team defeated the Shullsburg Miners.  The JV won with a final score of 45-33. For the JV, Katelyn Cox was the lead scorer with 15 points, Breanna Goninen followed closely behind with 11 points. After a slow start from the varsity, the pointers battled back and ended with a win and a final score of 44-42. Kennedy Wenger led the Varsity with 10 points. Kennedy commented, “I would say we never gave up. We could not make a shot in the first half, but our defense kept us in the game. The offensive end was not going well for us, but we stayed positive and kept working hard. We had great energy on the bench and on the court. Having fans helped a lot.” Blair Watters added 9 points, and Macy Ascliman added 7. This Thursday, the Lady Pointers will travel to Riverdale to take on the Chieftains. JV will start at 6 with varsity to follow shortly after. If you would like to watch the game, click here.
