Mineral Point Wrestling Holds Their First Dual Against the River Valley Black Hawks

Tuesday night, the Mineral Point wrestling team had their first dual of the season. Coming into this season, Coach Curtis Fieldler commented, “We have a great mix of veterans on this team along with fresh faces that are excited to compete and learn. I think we have the ability to make another great run as long as we continue to improve as the year progresses. We have a group of hard-working athletes that want to have success, and if they keep working together, they will do just that.” Starting out the night with 2 JV match wins, Quinten Kite won his wrestle-off scoring 10-4. Then right off the bat, Colby Carey pinned his opponent in 46 seconds. With that powerful win, the varsity team was pumped to jump right into the first match. Bo Hanson battled a long match ending with a win of 12-4. Mac Busser came onto the mat with his head up and walked off the mat with his head even higher and a pin in the second period in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Roen Carey wrestled his first high school match and came out with a pin in less than 16 seconds. Next Carson Kroll defeated his rival after a long match of 11-1. Lucus Sullivan had an outstanding match, pumping up the team with a tech fall of 17-1. Senior Trapper Nafzger pinned his contender falling at 1 minute and 14 seconds. After that Tarrin Riley walked off the mat with a pin in the second period at 3 minutes and 21 seconds. Hayden Bakken wrapped up the returning night with a speedy match at 46 seconds. Lennon Ewert, Quentin Gunderson, and Alan James contributed to the win by receiving forfeits. Ending the night the team scored an exciting 61-15 against the River Valley Black Hawks.
