January 28, 2022
The Pointer Wrestling team traveled to Cuba City to take on Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern, on Friday night. Starting weight 138, Tarrin Riley, came onto the mat anxious to start off the night. The gym filled with sound as Riley pinned his opponent at 1:00. Next, Ross Lindsey had his head up high. He knew that he had to battle, and he kept pushing for the win. Lindsey won with a pin at 5:23. Everyone had a burst of excitement and kept the gym full of noise. Senior Hayden Bakken at 152 was up next against Fox Austin. Bakken had a great match and added to the lead with another pin at 3:33. After that, the match at 160 fell to a pin. Quentin Gunderson received a forfeit for the Pointers at 170. At the next weight of 182, the Pointers lost by a pin at the time of 0:14. Junior Will Shute was up next. Shute knew that he needed to get a win for the team, so he did with a score of 9-2. Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern received two forfeits for the next couple of weights. Lennon Ewert and Lucus Sullivan added to the winning score for the Pointers with a forfeit at the weight of 106 and 126. Senior, Trapper Nafzger, had a great ending to the night with an exciting pin at 3:01.
