Pointer Volleyball With a Win Against Fennimore
September 13, 2022
Starting the week off strong, the MP Varsity Volleyball team took a win over the Fennimore Eagles. Coach Kabat had to make a lot of adjustments to achieve Tuesday’s win including an unusual lineup that allowed different players to make a statement in this match.
The varsity match was definitely one that you wanted to be there for! Nobody knew what was going to happen since libero Regan Suddeth was out due to an injury. They won the first set 25 – 17, and then tried a different lineup in game 2. Coach Kabat said, “The girls we put out there from the sideline did a great job. Olivia Wendhausen and Livie Poad played solid in game two. I am super proud of their effort and attitude this season.” After falling short on the second set 17 – 25, they had to keep their heads up to get their third set win 25 – 11.
To finish out the night, the girls ended up winning the fourth set 25 – 15. Top scorers of the night:
Kills – Kennedy Wenger – 20, Malea Aschliman – 11
Aces – Kennedy Wenger – 4, Maddy Kabat & Kennedy Kabat – 3
Assists – Mackenzie Aurit – 37
Blocks – Kennedy Kabat – 4, Kate Cox & Mackenzie Ripp – 2
Digs – Kennedy Wenger – 14, Kennedy Kabat – 13
The JV and JVR teams had a match beforehand as well. The JV team went 2 – 1 falling short on the last set. The JVR team had a tough night going 0 – 3.
Come take a trip with the girls to Boscobel on Thursday, wear your neon colors!
