Pointer Girls Basketball Defeats the Redbirds

The JV girls started the night off strong with a win over the Darlington Redbirds. Shortly after, varsity took the court. It was a huge game for the Pointers because senior Kennedy Wenger was making her first appearance of the season. Despite the welcoming of Kennedy Wenger, the Pointers came out slow in the first half. At half-time, the Pointers were losing by 20 points with a score of 12-32. Coming out of the half-time break, the Pointers were ready to make their statement. The Pointers scored 40 points in the second half while holding the Redbirds to only 17! The Pointers won the game on a game-winning, last-second shot by Belle Watters! The Pointers were led in scoring by Katelyn Cox who had 17 points, Belle Watters who had 13, and Laci Lindsey who also added 11 points. 

Both JV and varsity will travel to Hazel Green to take on the Southwestern Wildcats. The Wildcats currently have an overall record of 1-6 and they are third in the conference with a record of 1-1.
