Busy Week for Pointer Girls Basketball
On Monday, January 30, 2023, the Pointers hosted the Black Hawk Warriors for another non-conference game. The JV started the night off strong with a win over the Warriors with a score of 59-17. They were led by Jadyn Schultz who had 21 points including seven three-pointers.
The Pointers varsity overtook the Warriors with a score of 64-35. Katelyn Cox and Laci Lindsey added 15 points each, and Kennedy Wenger added 13 points as well.
On Thursday night, February 2, 2023, the Pointers traveled to Boscobel to take on the Bulldogs.
JV won with a score of 58 to 23. They were led by Maddy Kabat who had an impressive 15 points in the first half followed by Izzy Dannenberg who added 10 points.
The Pointers varsity beat the Bulldogs as well with a score of 80 to 45. Four Pointers scored in double figures including Kennedy Wenger with 23 points, Katelyn Cox with 15, Bre Goninen with 11, and Laci Lindsey with 10.
The Pointers played well on offense sharing the ball and getting lots of post touches. They played good defense, as well, playing in a 1-2-2 and man-to-man in the full court. In their halfcourt defense, they mixed it up by playing a 1-3-1 at times and also pressuring man-to-man which resulted in many steals.
