CHICAGO, IL – A Monday evening drive-by shooting in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood left a 32-year-old man dead and three others injured, including a 15-year-old boy.
The Incident
The shooting occurred just before 7:30 p.m. in the 0-100 block of North Lockwood Avenue. According to Chicago police, the four victims were standing on the sidewalk when an unknown SUV pulled up alongside them. An occupant inside the vehicle opened fire, striking all four individuals.
Witnesses described hearing rapid-fire gunshots, comparing the sound to machine guns and fireworks.
Victim Conditions and Hospital Updates
Emergency responders rushed all four victims to nearby hospitals:
- 32-Year-Old Man: Shot in the face; transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
- 34-Year-Old Man: Shot in the right leg; taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
- 36-Year-Old Man: Shot in the right flank; taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
- 15-Year-Old Boy: Shot in the right leg; transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

Following the incident, local violence interrupters arrived at the scene to support the victims’ family members. Community leaders emphasized the urgent need for safety measures as the city enters the warmer summer months.
