THE BRONX, NY – A quiet Thursday night turned violent in the Bronx when a double shooting outside a building near a local subway station left two men dead.
The Incident
The shooting occurred around 10:10 p.m. on the corner of Westchester Avenue and Harrod Avenue. Officers responding to emergency calls discovered a 43-year-old man and a 53-year-old man lying outside the building with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders rushed both victims to Jacobi Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending family notification.
Police Swarm The Scene
The incident occurred just one block away from the Morrison Avenue-Soundview 6 Train subway station. Photos from the area showed a massive police presence, with officers cordoning off the street and placing orange evidence cones around the scene.
Authorities have noted that it remains unclear whether the two victims were targeted or if they were caught in crossfire.
Investigation Ongoing
As of Friday morning, the shooter remains at large, and no arrests have been made. Police have not yet released a description of any suspects or a vehicle involved in the incident.
