Far West Bexar County Burglary Suspects Arrested After Shooting

BEXAR COUNTY, TX – Two men are facing multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into vehicles, firing gunshots at a local homeowner, and leading law enforcement on a multi-district pursuit early Tuesday morning.

Midnight Confrontation Turns Violent

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to a vehicle burglary and auto theft call around 3:00 a.m. near the 10100 block of Sawbuck Creek.

According to investigators, a family member attempted to locate the stolen vehicle nearby. When the homeowner confronted the suspects, the individuals opened fire. The homeowner returned fire, and thankfully, no injuries were reported during the shootout.

Stolen Debit Card Tracks Suspects Across Town

The suspects fled the shooting scene in the stolen vehicle. However, their run did not last long. Around 5:00 a.m., a stolen debit card taken during the initial burglary was used at a business in the 4600 block of Rittiman Road on San Antonio’s East Side.

The financial transaction allowed deputies to quickly ping the location, spot the vehicle, and initiate a high-speed pursuit. The chase ultimately ended near U.S. Highway 90 and Military Drive West.

Two Arrested On Multiple Charges

Deputies arrested two suspects at the end of the pursuit:

  • Jose Ricardo Herrera III, 22
  • Davian Valentine Martinez, 19

Both men are booked on multiple severe charges, including aggravated robbery, burglary of a vehicle, and evading arrest. While the stolen vehicle was successfully recovered, authorities noted that no firearms had been located at the initial time of the arrest.

BCSO Issues Safety Warnings To Residents

This incident follows a string of recent vehicle-burglary sprees in West Bexar County. Sheriff’s officials are strongly advising residents to:

  • Lock all car doors and roll up windows completely.
  • Remove all valuables, especially electronics, credit cards, and firearms.
  • Avoid confrontation: If you spot individuals checking door handles in your driveway, stay inside, preserve security camera footage, and call 911 immediately.
