Juvenile Arrested After Infant Girl Dies From Injuries In Claremont

CLAREMONT, CA – A male juvenile is in custody on suspicion of murder following the tragic death of an infant girl in Los Angeles County, local authorities announced Tuesday night.

Emergency Response On Lynoak Drive

Claremont Police Department officers rushed to the 1400 block of Lynoak Drive just after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, following reports of a severe medical emergency.

According to an official police news release, responding officers determined that the infant had been thrown to the floor by a juvenile inside the residence. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel immediately transported the baby girl to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Infant Succumbs To Injuries

Due to the critical severity of her injuries, the baby girl was later transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Despite medical efforts, she tragically passed away.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene without incident. After being processed at the Claremont Police Department jail, he was transferred to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall and booked on suspicion of murder.

Investigation and Arraignment

Because of the suspect’s status as a minor, authorities have not released his identity or age. An official arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, July 2.
