MUNCIE, IN – A fast-food worker is facing multiple criminal charges after police accused him of using his cell phone to steal financial information from customers at a local drive-thru.
The Drive-Thru Scheme
The suspect has been identified as Dylan Rexford, 29, of Muncie. According to investigators, Rexford was working at the Burger King location in Muncie and handling customer payments when the fraudulent activity took place.
Police reports state that during drive-thru transactions, Rexford would briefly hold customers’ credit or debit cards close to his personal cell phone before processing the restaurant payment and returning the cards. Investigators allege he used this method to gain unauthorized access to customers’ accounts and take money.
Charges Filed
Following an investigation, Rexford was arrested on preliminary charges of:
- Fraud
- Attempted Fraud
- Theft
