WILMINGTON, CA – A man is fighting for his life in critical condition after a fierce fire tore through multiple vehicles in an apartment parking lot on Monday night.
Emergency Response on Pacific Coast Highway
The blaze erupted around 8:38 p.m. at an apartment complex located on the 1100 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Firefighters rushed to the scene to find multiple cars fully engulfed in flames.
During the primary search, crews located one male victim suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries related to the fire. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Fireworks Suspected as Cause
While the investigation is in its early stages, fire officials strongly suspect that fireworks were being used in the immediate area where the flames first broke out. The fire quickly spread from the initial ignition point to torch several nearby vehicles, leaving heavy property damage.
Arson Unit Investigating
The exact cause of the fire remains under official investigation. Due to the severe injuries and the suspected involvement of fireworks, the case has been handed over to the LAFD’s Arson Counterterrorism Section for a full forensic review.
