Ricky Schroder Urges Alleged Charlie Kirk Murder Suspect To Confess

OREM, UT – Former child star and Hollywood actor Ricky Schroder took to social media on Wednesday to directly address 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

A Public Plea For A Confession

In an Instagram Reel shared on July 8, the 56-year-old Silver Spoons and NYPD Blue alum urged Robinson to confess to the crime rather than dragging the public through a high-profile legal battle.

“Tyler, son, you can do the right thing now,” Schroder said in the video. “You can ask for forgiveness after you confess, and I think that is what’s in your best interest is to confess to what you’ve done.”

Schroder went on to advise the suspect to “plead for forgiveness from Lord Jesus and the Kirk family,” adding that a confession would prevent “a big show” that would further divide the country.

The Fatal Incident

The public message stems from the tragic events of September 10, 2025, which shook the nation. Charlie Kirk was speaking to a large crowd at Utah Valley University during the first stop of his “American Comeback Tour” when he was shot in the neck. Kirk died from his injuries at the scene.

Robinson was apprehended by law enforcement roughly 36 hours after the shooting and subsequently charged with aggravated murder.

Current Legal Status

As of this week, Robinson has not yet entered an official plea in court. Schroder closed his video message by suggesting that a full confession might be Robinson’s only path to obtaining any form of leniency. “Maybe, just maybe, you’ll be shown some mercy,” Schroder stated. “And in that mercy, there’s a blessing for you and a blessing for everybody from this tragedy.”
