Davie, Florida – A former Lauderhill police officer has been arrested after authorities say he fled the scene of a crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured earlier this week.
According to the Davie Police Department, 33-year-old Thomas Manfredi was taken into custody Thursday in connection with the late-night crash that occurred Tuesday along South University Drive.
Officials say the incident happened around 11:35 p.m. near the 5400 block of South University Drive.
Motorcyclist Suffers Serious Injuries
Investigators say the crash occurred when a green 2025 Jeep Gladiator allegedly turned left in front of an oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcycle, driven by Juan David Gasper Gonzalez, collided with the Jeep during the turn.
Police say Manfredi, who was driving the Jeep, left the scene without calling 911.
Gasper Gonzalez was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with serious injuries. According to investigators, he suffered compound fractures to his right leg, which required surgery.
Former Officer Terminated After Investigation Began
Authorities said Manfredi had been hired by the Lauderhill Police Department on August 4, 2025, and was still in a probationary period at the time of the incident.
The department terminated him on March 11, the same day officials became aware of the investigation into the hit-and-run crash.
Surveillance Video and Vehicle Evidence
Detectives say surveillance video helped identify Manfredi’s vehicle before and after the crash.
Investigators reviewed footage from Tijuana Taxi, a nearby restaurant, which reportedly showed Manfredi and his girlfriend at the location shortly before the crash.
Police say the video showed the Jeep leaving the business around 11:28 p.m. with no visible damage.
However, surveillance footage from Manfredi’s apartment complex later showed the vehicle with rear bumper damage and a missing right taillight, which investigators say matched the crash.
Authorities also recovered vehicle parts at the crash scene, which detectives determined matched the Jeep’s damaged taillight.

Court Appearance and Bond Conditions
Manfredi appeared in Broward County bond court on Friday, where a judge set his bond at $20,000.
The court also ordered that he cannot leave the tri-county area while the case moves forward.
Officials confirmed that Manfredi has since posted bond and been released from custody. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
