SAN JOSE, CA – A 46-year-old San Jose man faces murder and stalking charges following the brutal stabbing death of his estranged wife on June 11, despite an active emergency protective order against him.
The Incident
San Jose police officers responded to reports of an attack at a local residence where they discovered Maria Liliana Vanegas Parra, 45, suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, Parra explicitly named her estranged husband, Pablo Aguileramora, as her attacker in her final moments before succumbing to her injuries at a local hospital.
Aguileramora was also found at the scene with a self-inflicted stab wound. Authorities state that he allegedly threatened a witness who attempted to call 911 during the assault.
History of Stalking and Harassment
The investigation revealed a severe history of domestic harassment leading up to the homicide:
- March Arrest: Aguileramora was previously arrested and charged with felony stalking.
- Tracking Devices: He allegedly slashed Parra’s tires and hid three separate tracking devices inside her vehicle.
- Harassment: Court records indicate he sent her over 100 unwanted texts and voicemails, applied for a job at her workplace, and repeatedly showed up unannounced.
Following his March arrest, Aguileramora was released from custody, after which Parra secured an emergency protective order against him.
Community Mourns Devoted Mother
Loved ones have described Parra as an exceptional, joyful woman and a devoted mother. A local community fundraiser has been established by her family to help cover expenses to transport her body back to her native country of Colombia for burial.
Aguileramora remains in custody and faces multiple felony counts, including murder and stalking. He is currently being represented by a public defender.
