BLAINA, WALES – A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after authorities discovered a body during the search for a missing teenage girl in Blaenau Gwent.

The investigation began after a 14-year-old girl, identified by police only as Lilly, was reported missing. Officers conducting the search discovered a body in Duffryn Park in Blaina at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Monday.

While formal identification is still pending, Gwent Police have stated they strongly believe the body is that of the missing teenager.

Legal Proceedings Begin

The 14-year-old suspect, whose identity is protected by law due to his age, has been remanded in police custody. He is scheduled to appear before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Friday to face the murder charge.

Gwent Police Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas expressed condolences to the victim’s loved ones, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Lilly at this difficult time.”
