Teen Arrested Inside Target After Redlands Mall Shooting

REDLANDS, CA – A 17-year-old suspect is in custody after a 16-year-old was shot following an altercation near Citrus Plaza on Sunday evening.

Altercation Leads to Gunfire

The Redlands Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the popular shopping center. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.

According to investigators, the shooting broke out after a dispute involving a group of individuals. The suspect immediately fled the scene on foot after firing the single shot.

Arrest Inside Target

Police launched an immediate search of the area and located the 17-year-old suspect hiding inside the Target store at Citrus Plaza. The teenager was arrested without further incident.

With assistance from the Hemet Police Department’s K-9 unit, officers successfully located a firearm believed to be connected to the shooting.

Victim Condition and Investigation

The 16-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital. Officials confirmed the teen is currently in stable condition and recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The identities of both juveniles involved have been withheld due to their ages. Redlands Police detectives are continuing their investigation into what triggered the initial altercation.
