Three Women Arrested Following Fatal Stabbing Of Texas Mother

DEL RIO, TX – Three women, including two teenage sisters, have been arrested and charged with murder following the daylight stabbing of a 32-year-old mother of five in Del Rio.

The Incident on East 10th Street

Del Rio Police officers responded to the Val Verde Regional Medical Center at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, following reports of a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The assault took place on East 10th Street. The victim, identified as Caroline Peña, was stabbed twice in the back and once in the side of her stomach, which punctured her lung. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was airlifted to a San Antonio medical facility, where she tragically passed away at 9:00 p.m. that evening.

Suspects Apprehended Quickly

Using surveillance footage and witness statements, detectives quickly identified and tracked down three suspects within hours of the attack.

  • Kitty Mia Diaz (21) and her sister Amaya Cookie Diaz (19) were arrested at a local residence around 4:00 p.m.
  • Kyandra Renee Faz (21) was taken into custody shortly after.

All three women have been officially charged with murder and are currently being held at the GEO Correctional Facility pending their court appearances.

Motive Remains Unclear

Authorities have not yet established a motive for the violent attack, and it remains unknown if Peña knew the suspects prior to the incident. Police noted that additional charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.

A community fundraiser has been established by loved ones to help support Peña’s five surviving children during this devastating time.
