Officer-Involved Shooting Inside Thousand Oaks Medical Center

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – A dramatic domestic violence incident escalated into an officer-involved shooting inside the Los Robles Regional Medical Center on Thursday afternoon, leaving a suspect in stable condition and under police custody.

The Hospital Shooting

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to gunfire involving a Simi Valley Police Department officer around 12:20 p.m. at the medical center located on West Janss Road.

According to police, a male suspect was being detained at the hospital for alleged domestic violence and attempted murder when an on-duty officer noticed he needed medical assessment. During that medical check, an altercation occurred, resulting in the officer firing their weapon. The suspect was struck by gunfire but was immediately treated by hospital staff and remains in stable condition.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed that all patients, staff, and visitors are safe, and the facility is operating normally.

Stabbing Incident Sparked Chaos

The incident originally began much earlier on Thursday morning. Around 1:30 a.m., Simi Valley police responded to a disturbance at a home on the 2100 block of Clover Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a husband and wife both suffering from multiple stab wounds. Investigators believe the husband viciously attacked his wife before turning the knife on himself. Four other family members, including a child, were inside the home when the violence erupted but were unharmed.

Ongoing Investigation

Both the husband and wife were initially transported to the Los Robles trauma center for treatment. The wife remains hospitalized as she recovers from her wounds.

Neither the suspect nor the victim has been publicly identified by authorities. Because a Simi Valley officer fired the weapon inside the hospital, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department has officially taken over the investigation into the shooting.
