Man Found Dead Near King Memorial MARTA Station

ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta police homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found dead in a pool of blood near a local transit station early Tuesday morning.

Discovery Near Roadway

Atlanta Police Department officers responded to the intersection of Grant Street Southeast and Decatur Street Southeast following reports of an injured person. Upon arrival, police discovered a man, believed to be in his 30s, lying near the roadway.

The victim appeared to have suffered either gunshot or stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Investigation Encompasses Busy Area

The intersection where the body was located sits just steps away from the King Memorial MARTA station and is roughly a 12-minute walk from Grady Memorial Hospital. Due to the high-traffic nature of the area, homicide investigators are canvassing for witnesses and checking nearby surveillance cameras.

At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
