A goldendoodle left tied to a baggage sizer at Las Vegas’ airport earlier this month has found a new beginning — with one of the very officers who helped rescue him. The 2-year-old pup, now affectionately known as Jet Blue, has officially joined the family of a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, turning a heartbreaking abandonment case into a story of compassion and accountability.
Dog Allegedly Abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport
The incident unfolded just after 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 2 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a woman allegedly left the dog tied to a metal carry-on baggage sizer at the JetBlue ticket counter after she was denied boarding.
Police identified the woman through court records as Germiran Bryson, 26. Authorities said she had attempted to travel with the dog as a service animal but had not completed the required documentation. After being denied a boarding pass, she allegedly left the dog behind.
Body camera footage later released by police showed Bryson telling officers she was going to the gate to “rebook my flight.” Officers said she also mentioned that the dog had a tracking device, implying it would be able to find its way back to her.
Police stated Bryson became hostile and resisted attempts to detain her. She was ultimately arrested and now faces misdemeanor charges including animal abandonment, animal abuse, resisting a public officer and providing false statements to obstruct a public officer. Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 31. Court records did not list a defense attorney at the time of reporting.

Following the rescue, Jet Blue was placed on a mandatory 10-day hold at The Animal Foundation shelter before being transferred to Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas.
Danielle Roth, founder of the rescue organization, described the dog’s behavior after being picked up from the shelter.
“He licked our faces, wagged his tail and jumped up on us,” Roth said. “There was no stress, like he knew he was safe. Like he knew he was never going to be stressed again.”
In a statement, the rescue added that Jet Blue “greets everyone with trust and warmth,” noting how remarkable his gentle demeanor was considering the circumstances.
The story quickly gained attention across the Las Vegas community and beyond. According to local reports, more than 2,500 adoption applications were submitted for the dog.
Officer Skeeter Black and Family Step Forward
Among those hoping to give Jet Blue a new home was LVMPD Officer Skeeter Black — one of the officers who responded to the airport incident. According to a Feb. 21 social media post from the department, Black and his family had already been working with Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas since September 2025 in hopes of adopting a goldendoodle.
They had been approved months earlier, making the adoption process seamless once Jet Blue became available.
“Bon voyage, Jet Blue and welcome to a new life where you’ll be loved beyond words by Officer Black and his family,” the department wrote in its post, thanking the community for its outpouring of support.
The adoption marks a full-circle moment for the dog — rescued by officers and ultimately welcomed into the home of one of them.

While Jet Blue has begun his new life, the legal case against Bryson remains ongoing. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 31 to address the misdemeanor charges tied to the incident.
