Newport Beach Takeover Victim Speaks Out Ahead Of Weekend Threats

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – A local woman injured during the violent Fourth of July beach takeover in Newport Beach is sharing her story as police brace for similar chaotic events targeting Huntington Beach and an Orange County theme park this upcoming weekend.

“It Turned Into A Nightmare”

Cassandra Torres, a longtime Orange County resident, was celebrating the holiday when she was caught in the middle of a massive crowd of young people. Torres was riding her e-bike when the crowd suddenly rushed her, throwing her to the ground.

“The next thing I know, I’m waking up with strangers around me,” Torres told local reporters. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for serious cuts, extensive bruising, and a concussion.

“I’ve never seen a hospital that busy in my life,” Torres added, describing the scene as a complete nightmare.

The Destruction on July 4

The holiday gathering quickly devolved into widespread violence along the coast. Rioters set illegal fires, looted local businesses, and directly targeted law enforcement officers with fireworks and explosives.

Authorities arrested more than 400 people during the unrest. Police later revealed that a significant portion of those taken into custody were out-of-state agitators who had traveled specifically from Arizona and Nevada to participate in the takeover.

High Alert for Huntington Beach and Theme Park

Law enforcement agencies across Orange County are now on high alert following intelligence that a similar coordinated takeover is planned for this weekend. The potential targets include:

  • Huntington Beach (coastal areas)
  • A major unnamed Orange County theme park

Police departments are increasing patrols, deploying tactical units, and warning residents to remain vigilant and report any large, suspicious gatherings immediately.
