Anaheim, California: A baby shower in Anaheim, California turned violent after what police describe as a gang-related shooting left three minors hospitalized and an adult injured.
The Anaheim Police Department (APD) confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with the February 28 shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of South Sprague Lane.
Authorities say the case remains under active investigation.
Shooting at Baby Shower in Anaheim
According to police, the shooting happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. during a baby shower gathering.
Investigators determined that four alleged gang members confronted rival gang members who were attending the event. During the confrontation, suspects allegedly opened fire.
Police reported:
- Three juveniles were struck by gunfire and transported to a hospital.
- All three minors are currently in stable condition.
- One adult bystander was injured but treated at the scene.
The violence disrupted what had been a private family celebration, leaving community members shaken.
Four Suspects Arrested
APD confirmed that four suspects were taken into custody.
The suspects include:
- Zine Jassim, 18
- Three additional suspects who are minors (identities not released)
Two suspects were arrested in Whittier, California on March 1. During that arrest, officers recovered:
- An AR-style firearm
- A handgun believed to have been used in the shooting
The remaining two suspects were apprehended in Santa Ana, California on March 2.
All four are facing multiple charges, including:
- Attempted murder
- Conspiracy
- Assault
- Weapons violations
- Gang enhancements
Police Statement
Anaheim Police Chief Manny Cid issued a statement praising the swift response by law enforcement.
“I am proud of the swift and professional response demonstrated by our team in identifying, locating, and safely apprehending those responsible. We will continue to pursue justice with determination and resolve. Those who threaten the safety of our community will be held accountable,” he said.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive beyond describing the shooting as gang-related.
