A quiet morning turned into a terrifying scene when a pregnant woman was suddenly attacked in a grocery store parking lot—without any warning, and without even knowing her attacker.
Sudden Attack in a Public Place
The incident happened on March 18 in a Harris Teeter parking lot in Charlotte, North Carolina. The victim, who was pregnant, was walking with her 3-year-old child when a woman allegedly approached and stabbed her in broad daylight.
According to police, there were no prior interactions between the victim and the suspect—making the attack completely random and deeply unsettling.
When officers arrived shortly before 11:30 a.m., they found the woman injured but conscious. Thankfully, her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, but the emotional shock of the incident has left many disturbed.
Suspect Identified and Charged
Authorities identified the suspect as Marvina Butler-Hardy, who now faces serious charges including:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or cause serious injury
- Battery of an unborn child
Police confirmed that the suspect and victim were strangers, raising concerns about random acts of violence in public spaces.
Eyewitness Reaction: “Like a Horror Film”
People working nearby described the situation as surreal and frightening.
One witness shared that seeing multiple police vehicles and hearing what had happened felt shocking. The randomness of the attack made it even more disturbing, with many comparing it to something out of a horror movie.
Escape and Arrest in Another State
After the attack, the suspect allegedly fled the scene in a Hyundai Elantra and drove all the way to Florida.
She was eventually stopped near Jacksonville during a traffic check after officers noticed a broken windshield. During the stop, she provided only an ID card and admitted her driver’s license was suspended.
A statewide alert had already been issued for the vehicle and suspect, which helped authorities connect her to the stabbing case.
Soon after, officers confirmed her identity and took her into custody.
What Happens Next
The suspect is currently being held in Florida and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina, where she will face the charges.
As of now, no court date has been announced.
A Disturbing Reminder
This incident has shaken the local community, highlighting how even routine daily activities can turn dangerous without warning.
A simple walk through a parking lot—something most people never think twice about—became a life-threatening situation in seconds.
