Child Spotted Steering Car On Southern California Freeway

RIVERSIDE, CA – California Highway Patrol (CHP) authorities are investigating a reckless incident after a young child was spotted sitting on a driver’s lap and steering a vehicle down a busy freeway.

The Incident on the 60 Freeway

According to the CHP Riverside office, the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Witnesses observed a black Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on the 60 Freeway near Box Springs Road with a dangerous security violation inside.

A young child was clearly seen seated on the lap of an adult male driver. Alarmingly, the child was holding onto the steering wheel while the vehicle was in motion, and was completely unrestrained.

Vehicle Last Seen on I-215

A front-seat passenger was also spotted inside the Camry at the time of the incident. Law enforcement was quickly notified of the reckless driving behavior, and the vehicle was last seen transitioning onto the southbound 215 Freeway.

No further details regarding the identity of the occupants or potential enforcement actions have been made public by investigators.
