Montgomery Weekend of Violence: 4 Dead, Multiple Injured as Police Hunt for Suspects

Montgomery Weekend of Violence 4 Dead, Multiple Injured as Police Hunt for Suspects

MONTGOMERY, AL — The city of Montgomery is reeling after a violent weekend left four people dead and three others injured in a series of separate shooting incidents. The wave of bloodshed, which began midday Friday and stretched into the early hours of Sunday, has pushed the city’s 2026 homicide tally to 14.

During a somber Sunday afternoon press conference, Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys expressed his outrage over the “senseless” loss of life. “I am angry because the killings are senseless,” Graboys stated. “I’m angry about the disregard for human life shown by the perpetrators. These individuals chose violence over peace, and that’s completely unacceptable.”

A Timeline of the Weekend Shootings

While Chief Graboys emphasized that none of the shootings appear to be connected, a disturbing pattern emerged: in every incident, the victims and suspects were known to each other. “These were not random,” the Chief confirmed.

Friday, April 10: The Violence Begins The first fatal incident occurred at 12:33 p.m. in the 100 block of West South Boulevard. Officers found 28-year-old Martavious Langford with critical injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.

  • Arrest Made: 30-year-old Adrian Jackson has been charged with capital murder. Authorities state the charge is “capital” because the fatal shots were allegedly fired from a vehicle.

Saturday, April 11: Early Morning and Domestic Disputes

  • 2:23 a.m. (Grove Street): Police responded to the 900 block of Grove Street where they found 35-year-old Andre Smith dead at the scene. A woman was also found with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • 12:47 a.m.: A juvenile girl arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound; her injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.
  • 7:45 p.m.: An adult male was seriously injured in what Chief Graboys described as a domestic-related shooting.
  • 10:26 p.m. (Fountain Lane): Another man was critically injured in the 3400 block of Fountain Lane. Details regarding this suspect remain limited.

Sunday, April 12: Predawn Fatalities As Saturday turned into Sunday, the violence continued:

  • Midnight (Day Street Road): 48-year-old Pendarvis Williams was discovered wounded in the 1000 block of Day Street Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • 12:03 a.m. (Wares Ferry Road): Almost simultaneously, officers found 21-year-old Tori Kelly Jr. shot dead in the 6300 block of Wares Ferry Road.

Police Response and Community Call to Action

Chief Graboys confirmed that investigators have recovered multiple firearms from the various scenes. These weapons are currently undergoing forensic testing to determine if they are linked to other crimes in the Montgomery area.

“Our officers are relentless,” Graboys warned those responsible. “We will find you, and you will face justice.” The department is currently developing “persons of interest” in the cases where arrests have not yet been made.

The Montgomery Police Department is urging anyone with information to step forward. Community members can provide tips anonymously, which is often the key to solving domestic-related violence.
