WASHINGTON, D.C. – A broad daylight shooting in a busy Northwest D.C. neighborhood has left an 18-year-old man hospitalized and local residents on edge.
Shooting Near Wisconsin Avenue
D.C. Police and Fire and EMS responded to the 4500 block of Wisconsin Ave. NW at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a young man suffering from gunshot wounds in the alleyway located directly behind the Tenleytown CVS pharmacy.
The victim was alert when transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries are not considered life-threatening, and he is expected to survive.
Chaos During After-School Hours
The incident occurred during a peak travel time in a high-traffic area, situated close to both Jackson-Reed High School and American University.
According to police statements, a group of approximately 10 to 15 teenagers was seen fleeing the scene immediately after the sound of gunshots. The sudden violence caused a brief period of panic for shoppers and students in the immediate vicinity.
Police Search For Suspects
Currently, D.C. Police have not released a description of a suspect or a motive for the shooting. The investigation remains active as detectives review surveillance footage from nearby businesses to identify those involved.
