MONTICELLO, KY – A 27-year-old Kentucky woman is facing criminal charges after state troopers discovered her toddler had been given a tattoo at a home near the Tennessee state line.
The “Party Dot” Incident
Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers from Post 15 responded to a child abuse complaint in Monticello on Monday, May 4. Upon arrival, they located Brook McDaniel and her 22-month-old son.
Authorities observed a fresh “black dot tattoo” on the child’s right forearm, surrounded by visible redness. While McDaniel reportedly told troopers the child accidentally stuck his arm in the way of a tattoo gun while she was tattooing her own leg, witnesses provided a different story. According to witness statements, McDaniel claimed the toddler “wanted the tattoo” and referred to it as a “party dot.”
“Deplorable” Home Conditions
In addition to the assault investigation, troopers reported finding “deplorable” living conditions inside the residence. The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) was immediately contacted to intervene and ensure the safety of the child.
Legal Charges and Custody
McDaniel was taken into custody and booked into the Adair County Detention Center. She currently faces several charges, including:
- Fourth-degree assault (Child Abuse)
- Additional investigations regarding the home environment
Records show she is being held on a $5,000 cash bond. The investigation remains active as authorities coordinate with family services.
