HOLLYWOOD, FL – A major intersection in Hollywood was shut down early Wednesday morning following a violent collision between a police SUV and a sedan.
Severe Damage at the Scene
The crash occurred at the intersection of North Ocean Drive and Hollywood Boulevard. Visual evidence from the scene showed a Hollywood Police Department SUV with severe front-end damage and its airbags deployed, stopped near a downed palm tree surrounded by shattered glass.
A red sedan involved in the wreck also sustained heavy front- and rear-end damage, with its doors open and airbags deployed.
Road Closures and Cleanup
The northbound lanes of North Ocean Drive were completely closed to traffic for several hours while emergency crews cleared the debris and officers launched an investigation.
Tow trucks arrived on the scene and successfully managed to clear both mangled vehicles by 6:00 a.m., allowing traffic flow to gradually resume.
Investigation Ongoing
Hollywood Police officials have not yet confirmed the medical conditions of the officer involved or the driver of the red sedan.
The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released details regarding who was at fault.
