DALLAS, TX – A Dallas apartment complex manager is recovering from multiple stab wounds after a tenant allegedly attacked her inside the leasing office on Tuesday.
The Office Assault
Keila Torres, a manager at an apartment complex on Fort Worth Avenue, was inside the leasing office when she was targeted. According to authorities, a tenant she recognized barged into the room and jumped over her desk.
Torres stated the suspect immediately punched her in the face before grabbing her and stabbing her multiple times in the back and shoulder. She sustained deep wounds requiring more than two dozen medical staples, along with severe bruising across her face, arms, and legs.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Dallas Police quickly responded to the scene and arrested 30-year-old Rigoberto Contreras Pirela.
An arrest warrant reveals that Pirela is facing felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators also disclosed that prior to the stabbing, the suspect allegedly started a fire inside his own apartment unit, which police believe was ignited as a distraction.
Aftermath and Investigation
The leasing office became a crime scene as officers secured cell phone footage and photos capturing the immediate aftermath of the violent encounter. Pirela remains in custody as Dallas detectives continue their investigation into the motive behind the attack.
