POTTSTOWN, PA – Detectives are investigating a fatal Wednesday night shooting after a 20-year-old man was found dead inside a Pottstown home.
The Incident
Pottstown Police officers responded to a 911 call around 9:46 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20. The call led authorities to a residence located on the 400 block of West Street.
Upon entering the home, officers discovered 20-year-old Xavier Jeffers suffering from fatal gunshot wounds inside an upstairs bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Targeted Attack Suspected
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, which is leading the joint investigation alongside the Pottstown Police Department, released a key update regarding the motive. Officials stated they believe Jeffers was shot by someone he knew, indicating the incident was not a random act of violence.
