Cerritos, California — A major recall involving specialty beverage products distributed across California and dozens of other states has been announced after concerns emerged about possible salmonella contamination.
According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), SKS Copack of Cerritos, California, is voluntarily recalling multiple beverage products that may contain contaminated ingredients linked to salmonella risk.
Beverage Products Distributed Across 25 States
The recalled products were distributed through cafes, restaurants and direct delivery services in at least 25 states, including California, Texas, Florida, New York, Washington and Nevada.
The FDA said the affected products include a wide range of specialty beverage powders and mixes commonly used in coffee drinks, smoothies, milk teas and desserts.
Some of the recalled products include:
- Angel Specialty Products Matcha Green Tea
- Angel Specialty Products Taro
- Milk Tea and Horchata mixes
- Royal Gold French Vanilla Cappuccino
- Boba Time Coconut and Pistachio Powders
- Fanale Ube-Taro mix
- Denda Milk Ice Cream Mix
Officials released multiple lot numbers and best-by dates connected to the recall, with expiration dates extending into 2027.
Recall Linked to Possible Salmonella Contamination
According to authorities, the recall was initiated after SKS Copack received notice from a supplier regarding a separate voluntary recall involving a milk powder ingredient.
Officials said the issue traces back to California Dairies, Inc., which recalled a certain low-heat nonfat dry milk powder due to potential salmonella contamination concerns.
The FDA explained that the ingredient had been used in several specialty beverage products before the contamination warning was issued.
As a precaution, SKS Copack immediately quarantined the remaining ingredient supply and halted distribution of all affected products.
No Illnesses Reported So Far
At this time, authorities say no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
However, consumers are still being urged to avoid using the affected beverage mixes due to the potential health risk associated with salmonella exposure.
Salmonella infections can cause symptoms including:
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Stomach cramps
Health officials warn that severe infections can be especially dangerous for young children, elderly adults and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Consumers Urged to Return Products
Anyone who purchased the recalled products is being advised to stop using them immediately.
The company says affected items can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers with questions regarding the recall can also contact SKS Copack directly at (562) 404-8158 for additional information.
The FDA continues monitoring the situation as the recalled products are removed from circulation.
Food Safety Concerns Continue Nationwide
The recall highlights ongoing concerns surrounding food safety and contamination risks involving widely distributed ingredients used in commercial beverage and dessert products.
Because many of the recalled items were distributed to cafes and restaurants, some consumers may not immediately realize they were exposed to the affected products.
Officials are encouraging businesses to carefully review product inventory, lot codes and supplier notices to ensure all recalled items are properly removed.
The FDA has not announced any additional recalls connected to the incident at this time.
