Homestead, Florida — What began as a routine trip through a fast-food drive-thru reportedly escalated into a frightening road-rage incident that ended with felony charges and an arrest.
Authorities say a Florida woman became enraged after another customer criticized her driving and allegedly responded by trying to hit people with her vehicle in a Raising Cane’s parking lot.
Drive-Thru Dispute Sparks Confrontation
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. Sunday at a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant on Northeast 8th Street in Homestead, near Miami.
Investigators allege that 32-year-old Amber Nicole Collier was driving recklessly through the restaurant’s parking lot and entered the drive-thru lane in the wrong direction.
Authorities say Collier nearly collided with another vehicle while traveling the wrong way through the drive-thru area.
The driver of the other vehicle later followed Collier to a nearby stop sign and reportedly told her she should “drive more carefully.”
What happened next, according to police, quickly escalated into a dangerous confrontation.
Woman Allegedly Turns Vehicle Toward Victims
Investigators say Collier allegedly made a U-turn and intentionally drove toward the victim after the brief exchange. According to the arrest affidavit, she was screaming:
“you’re a rapist and a c—; I’m going to kill you.”
Police allege Collier attempted to strike the victim’s vehicle but instead hit a curb. Moments later, a passenger from the victim’s vehicle exited the car during the confrontation. Authorities say Collier again accelerated toward the victims.
Passenger Allegedly Struck by Vehicle
During the second encounter, police say Collier’s vehicle struck the passenger in the arm as she drove past.
The victim reportedly suffered bruising but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the primary victim told officers she feared for her life during the incident because she believed Collier intended to hit them.
The confrontation transformed what started as a verbal disagreement into a criminal investigation involving allegations of aggravated battery.
Additional Crash Reported During Escape
Authorities allege Collier fled the scene immediately after the incident.
While leaving the Raising Cane’s parking lot, police say she struck a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was exiting the restaurant.
Rather than stopping after the collision, investigators claim she continued driving away from the area. Law enforcement officers later located and stopped Collier approximately 10 miles away from the restaurant.
She was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
Charges Filed and Court Appearance Scheduled
Following her arrest, Collier was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail. Authorities charged her with aggravated battery and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.
Court records indicate she remained jailed on a $7,500 bond following the arrest. She is scheduled to make her next court appearance on Tuesday.
The case highlights how quickly minor traffic disputes can escalate into potentially dangerous situations, particularly in crowded public spaces such as parking lots and drive-thru lanes.
