FONTANA, CA – A driver in a suspected stolen vehicle was taken into custody Wednesday after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit that stretched across two Southern California counties.
The Pursuit Route
The chase began in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County. The suspect fled eastbound on the 10 Freeway, driving at high speeds to evade law enforcement.
As the pursuit crossed into San Bernardino County and reached Ontario, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over primary pursuit duties from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
End of the Chase near Citrus Avenue
Despite losing a tire during the high-speed flight, the driver continued pushing the silver sedan forward on its rim.
The chase finally came to an end in the Fontana area, near the Bloomington border. The driver pulled over on the shoulder of the 10 Freeway near Citrus Avenue, exited the vehicle, and complied with commands from CHP officers before being handcuffed without further incident.
Charges Pending
The identity of the suspect has not yet been released to the public. Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the vehicle theft, and multiple felony evading charges are expected to be filed in San Bernardino County.
