One Dead, Three Injured In Fairfield High School Shooting

FAIRFIELD, CA – An 18-year-old was killed and three other individuals, including a child, were injured after gunfire erupted in a school parking lot following a high school graduation ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Tragedy After Graduation Ceremony

The shooting occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Fairfield High School. According to the Fairfield Police Department, the incident took place shortly after the conclusion of the graduation ceremony for Sem Yeto Continuation High School.

Responding officers discovered four victims at the scene. The victims are aged 11, 20, 25, and 18. Authorities confirmed that the 18-year-old victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased. The conditions of the other three victims have not yet been released.

Community Mourns

The tragedy has deeply impacted the local community. Fairfield Mayor Catherine Moy released an emotional statement on social media expressing her grief.

“My heart is breaking for the students and families involved,” Mayor Moy stated. “I graduated from Fairfield High School and I can’t get my head and heart around this tragedy. I’m shaken to my soul.”

Investigation Underway

The Fairfield Police Department is leading the active investigation and remains the primary source for official updates. No details regarding the suspect’s identity, description, or motive have been made public as detectives work to piece together the events leading up to the gunfire.

Mayor Moy assured the public that “the shooter will face justice” as police continue to gather evidence from witnesses and potential surveillance footage in the area.
