Human Skull Discovered In Donations At Florida Thrift Store

BROOKSVILLE, FL – Employees sorting through donations at a local thrift store over the weekend got the shock of a lifetime when they uncovered a real human skull mixed in with everyday household items.

An Unexpected Discovery

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 16, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at the Jericho Ministries Thrift Store in Brooksville.

Store employee Jared Veals was processing the newly dropped-off items when he noticed the skull. Recognizing specific anatomical features where the upper bones met, Veals immediately suspected the remains were genuine and alerted authorities.

World War II Era Remains

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to secure the remains. According to Corporal Michael Terry, preliminary assessments indicate that the skull is historical, likely dating back to the World War II era.

Investigators do not believe the skull is linked to any recent criminal activity or foul play. Instead, detectives suspect the item may have been a family heirloom passed down through generations.

Search For The Donor

Authorities believe the person who dropped off the box may have genuinely mistaken the skull for a Halloween prop or a plastic replica.

The Sheriff’s Office is now looking to identify and speak with the donor to clarify the situation and gather more context on where the artifact came from.
