Second Suspect Arrested In Toledo Festival Mass Shooting

TOLEDO, OH – A second suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the June 6 mass shooting that left 12 people injured during a crowded historic neighborhood street festival in Toledo.

The Arrest of Ka Nye Taylor

On Wednesday, law enforcement officials arrested Ka Nye Taylor, 20, in Columbus. The Toledo Police Department confirmed that the arrest was a coordinated effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor will be extradited back to Toledo to face 11 counts of felonious assault.

Video Evidence Captures the Chaos

According to a criminal complaint filed in Toledo Municipal Court, investigators utilized surveillance footage and law enforcement databases to identify Taylor.

  • The Video: Footage reportedly shows Taylor firing a handgun into a crowd of people during a fight between rival groups.
  • The Eyewitnesses: An eyewitness at the scene also positively identified Taylor, who had been briefly interviewed by officers immediately following the gunfire.

The First Suspect and the Escalation

The shooting occurred during the popular Old West End Festival, an annual event that fills the historic district with music, food trucks, and hundreds of visitors.

Authorities state that a fight between rival factions escalated into open gunfire. The first suspect, Eljay Crisp-Carr, 20, was arrested on June 11 and is also facing 11 counts of felonious assault. Surveillance video allegedly shows Crisp-Carr firing indiscriminately into the panicked crowd.

Neither of the shooters was wounded in the altercation.

Aftermath and Victims

The sudden violence sent hundreds of terrified bystanders fleeing for safety, forcing organizers to cancel the second day of the festival.

The 12 wounded victims ranged in age from teenagers to an individual in their 60s. Toledo detectives are continuing to process evidence, and both suspects remain in custody awaiting prosecution.
