LADERA HEIGHTS, CA – A transit rider was hospitalized Wednesday morning after accidentally discharging a firearm while aboard a Metro bus at a busy local intersection.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday aboard Metro Bus Line 108. According to Metro officials, the bus was stopped at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Fairfax Avenue when a passenger’s firearm went off accidentally.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded swiftly to the reports of a gunshot wound at the scene.
Hospitalization and Safety Response
The individual who discharged the weapon suffered injuries from the gunfire and was transported by paramedics to a local hospital. Authorities have not released the current condition or the identity of the wounded passenger.
Fortunately, despite the potentially catastrophic situation inside the public transit vehicle, no other injuries were reported among the remaining passengers or the bus driver.
Investigation Underway
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) has launched an investigation into the shooting and weapon possession on the transit system.
