Armed Suspect Arrested After Standoff At Fire-Damaged Richland Hills Home

RICHLAND HILLS, TX – A brief police standoff ended Monday afternoon with one man in custody after he allegedly trespassed at a restricted home and pointed a firearm at officers.

The Standoff on Dogwood Park Drive

Police responded to reports of a man trespassing at a residence off Dogwood Park Drive, just north of Highway 121. The home was already under investigation following a recent fire and had been marked for restricted access.

According to the Richland Hills Police Department, the situation escalated when they received information that the suspect was armed. The man reportedly pointed a firearm out of a window toward officers.

Police Response and Arrest

Officers from Richland Hills and Haltom City quickly established a perimeter and began negotiations. The standoff concluded after police deployed a less-lethal device to subdue the suspect.

After being cleared by paramedics, the individual was transported to the Joint Detention Center in North Richland Hills. He faces several serious charges, including:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
  • Deadly Conduct
  • Criminal Trespass

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect is also connected to an ongoing arson investigation involving a fire at the same residence on May 2. The Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of that blaze.
