Livingston Parish, La. – A Baton Rouge man has been arrested in connection with an early morning armed robbery at a Circle K convenience store in Livingston Parish. Deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody following a coordinated investigation.
According to authorities, the robbery occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday at the Circle K located on Juban Road. Law enforcement officials say the suspect entered the store wearing a mask and proceeded to move behind the counter, where he began taking cartons of cigarettes.
Suspect Identified and Charged
The suspect has been identified as Gregory Moore, 32, of Baton Rouge. He has been charged with first-degree robbery in connection with the incident. Sheriff Jason Ard stated that the suspect allegedly threatened the store employee during the robbery, creating a dangerous and frightening situation.
Witnesses reported that the masked man placed his hand inside his pocket as though he had a firearm and issued a serious threat to the store clerk.
“Witnesses advised that a masked suspect went behind the counter, was stealing cigarettes, had a hand in a pocket — like he had a gun — and told the worker, ‘If you call the cops, I will kill you,’” Sheriff Ard explained.
Although no weapon was visibly displayed, authorities said the implied threat of a firearm elevated the severity of the crime.
How the Robbery Unfolded
Investigators believe the suspect fled the store on foot immediately after taking the cigarettes. Deputies say he ran toward a nearby wooded area where a vehicle was reportedly waiting. Authorities suspect the vehicle may have been used as a getaway car to assist in the escape.
The quick response by deputies and follow-up investigation by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Armed Robbery and Burglary detectives played a critical role in identifying and locating the suspect. Detectives tracked Moore to Baton Rouge, where he was later arrested without incident.
Current Custody Status
At this time, Moore is being held in Baton Rouge as a fugitive. Officials confirmed that arrangements are underway to transport him to the Livingston Parish Detention Center, where he will face charges related to the robbery.
First-degree robbery in Louisiana is a serious felony offense that carries significant penalties, including potential prison time if convicted.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation remains active as deputies continue reviewing surveillance footage and gathering additional evidence. Authorities have not released further details regarding whether any accomplices were involved in the incident.
Law enforcement officials are reminding business owners and employees to remain vigilant during late-night and early-morning hours, as convenience stores can be common targets for robberies.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with additional information related to this case to contact authorities as investigations continue.
