Lancaster Mother Charged With Murder In Toddler's Burn Death

LANCASTER, CA – A 28-year-old Lancaster woman was formally charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday in connection with the murder of her 2-year-old son.

The Investigation

The formal charges come after an intensive eight-month investigation into the death of the toddler, identified as Legend Lee. The incident originally occurred on November 26 at a residence in the 44000 block of Cedar Avenue.

The investigation was launched after the Kern County Medical Examiner’s Office alerted Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators regarding the suspicious circumstances surrounding the child’s passing. According to the L.A. County Medical Examiner, the toddler died from complications of severe burn injuries.

Severe Charges and Arrest

The child’s mother, Rayzhannah Greenhoward, was arrested on July 9 following the monthslong probe. The District Attorney’s Office has officially charged Greenhoward with:

  • Murder
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Child abuse resulting in death
  • Assault on a child causing death

Court Proceedings

Greenhoward is currently being held at the Lynwood Jail with bail set at $2 million. Following her formal charging on Monday, she is scheduled to make her next court appearance on Tuesday in Lancaster.
