Chicago Police Search For Suspect In West Chatham Assault

CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Police Department is turning to the public for help identifying a suspect accused of assaulting a young girl in the city’s West Chatham neighborhood over the weekend.

The Incident

According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Saturday along West 87th Street, near South Lafayette Avenue.

Police reports state that an unknown male suspect approached a 6-year-old girl who was walking with her mother. Authorities allege that the man faked a fall in order to physically grab and abuse the young girl before fleeing the scene.

Suspect Images Released

The Chicago Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit has released surveillance photos of the wanted individual in hopes that community members can identify him.

Officials have described the suspect as an unknown adult male, but further physical descriptions have not yet been made public.
