ORLANDO, FLORIDA — Central Florida is preparing for a stretch of unsettled weather, with heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal hazards expected to impact the region through midweek.
Forecasters warn that conditions could lead to localized flooding and dangerous beach conditions.
Heavy Rain to Impact the Region
Periods of rain are expected throughout the day, with the heaviest downpours likely from late morning into the early afternoon.
By the end of the day, some areas could receive an additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall, increasing the risk of water buildup in low-lying areas.
Flood Watch Issued for Coastal Counties
A flood watch is in effect for several counties, including:
- Brevard
- Indian River
- Martin
- St. Lucie
- Volusia
Officials say 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely through Wednesday night, but some locations could see totals as high as 7 inches due to slow-moving rain bands.
Flooding may occur in rivers, creeks, and poorly drained areas.
