Found Safe South LA Amber Alert Issued After Child Recovered

LOS ANGELES, CA – A three-year-old child who was the subject of an Amber Alert in South Los Angeles on Thursday has been found safe, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Incident and Recovery

The critical incident began around 8:00 a.m. Thursday, when the toddler was reported missing near the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Van Ness Avenue.

Following an intense search, LAPD confirmed that the child was successfully located unharmed by 6:00 p.m. A suspect involved in the disappearance was also taken into custody.

Alert System Timing Glitch

Many local residents received the emergency broadcast on their mobile devices just after 6:00 p.m., causing immediate concern. However, officials later clarified that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was actually in the middle of canceling the alert when the system broadcasted it to the public.

Because the recovery and the cancellation process happened almost simultaneously, the notification went out just as the emergency had successfully resolved.

Ongoing Investigation

While the child is safely back with family, police have not yet released the identity of the suspect or the specific charges they are facing. The investigation into the circumstances of the abduction remains active.
