Gwinnett County deputy arrested on child molestation charges, officials say

A deputy with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is in custody after being arrested on multiple child sex crime charges following an investigation by county authorities.

Officials with the Gwinnett County Police Department said detectives with the department’s Special Victims Unit arrested 21-year-old Rylee Willis of Stone Mountain earlier this week.

Investigation details

According to investigators, the case began on January 5, when a parent contacted police after discovering explicit and inappropriate messages allegedly sent from an adult to her underage daughter. Authorities confirmed the victim was younger than 16 years old at the time.

Detectives reviewed the evidence and identified Willis as the suspect. Following the investigation, police obtained arrest warrants and took Willis into custody without incident.

Charges filed

Willis is now facing multiple felony charges, including:

  • Two counts of child molestation
  • Two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes

Police said the charges stem directly from electronic communications uncovered during the investigation.

Sheriff’s Office response

In a public statement posted to social media, the sheriff’s office confirmed that Willis was a probationary employee at the time of the alleged offenses and is no longer employed by the agency.

“The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” the statement read. “Any violation of the law is taken seriously and addressed accordingly.”

Custody status

Authorities confirmed that Willis remains incarcerated at the Gwinnett County Jail and is being held without bond as the case proceeds through the court system.

Ongoing case

Police indicated the investigation remains active, and additional information may be released as the judicial process continues. Anyone with relevant information related to the case is encouraged to contact Gwinnett County Police.
