Idaho Father Arrested For Refusing Life Saving Medical Care For Daughter

IDAHO FALLS, ID – An Idaho father faces a felony charge after authorities say he intentionally withheld life-saving medical treatment from his 10-year-old daughter during a severe, life-threatening infection.

The Charges and Arrest

The Idaho Falls Police Department arrested Joshua Bailey, charging him with felony injury to a child. The arrest followed a tense standoff with medical professionals over the care of his daughter, who has cerebral palsy and relies on two feeding tubes for survival.

According to court documents, Bailey explicitly refused to allow doctors to administer necessary medical interventions despite being warned that the child’s condition was critical.

State Intervention Saves Child

As the child’s health rapidly declined, medical staff at the local facility took emergency action. Doctors officially declared that the 10-year-old was in “imminent danger” and would die without immediate intervention, legally stripping the father of his ability to refuse care.

Child Protective Services (CPS) and law enforcement stepped in to enforce the medical order. Investigators confirmed that CPS successfully assisted in getting the young girl the treatment she needed despite her father’s intense protests.

Current Status

While the immediate life-threatening crisis was addressed by medical staff, the current health status of the child has not been publicly released due to privacy laws.

Bailey remains in custody as local prosecutors move forward with the felony child abuse case.
