Police Seek Three Motorists in Fatal Studio City Hit-and-Run on Ventura Boulevard

STUDIO CITY, Calif. — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying three motorists believed to be involved in a fatal multi-vehicle hit-and-run that claimed the life of a man in his 60s in Studio City last month.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 23 along Ventura Boulevard near Van Noord Avenue.

What police say happened

Investigators said a white cargo van was traveling eastbound on Ventura Boulevard when it ran over the foot of a man who was sitting or lying in the roadway. The van did not stop and was last seen continuing eastbound.

Moments later, the victim was struck by two additional vehicles — described as a white SUV and a sedan — both also traveling eastbound on Ventura Boulevard, police said. Neither driver stopped at the scene.

Victim pronounced dead at scene

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the collision but pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.

Police reminder to drivers

In a statement, police emphasized that drivers involved in any collision are legally required to stop, pull over when safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

Leaving the scene of a collision involving serious injury or death can result in severe criminal charges, including felony hit-and-run, investigators noted.

Reward offered

Authorities announced that a reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible.

Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers by phone or online.
