Teen Arrested After Repeated Reckless E-Motorcycle Pursuits In Fontana

FONTANA, CA – A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall following a string of dangerous e-motorcycle pursuits that sparked a major enforcement crackdown by the Fontana Police Department.

The Hunter’s Ridge Pursuit

The investigation intensified following an incident on May 21 during a targeted traffic enforcement operation. Officers attempted to stop the teen rider, who immediately fled, leading police on a pursuit through the Hunter’s Ridge neighborhood.

A police helicopter tracked the suspect from the air while motor officers followed on the ground. The chase came to a sudden halt when the rider entered a water channel tunnel, forcing officers to stop the ground pursuit for safety reasons.

Pattern of Dangerous Behavior

Investigators later discovered this was not an isolated incident. The same 15-year-old had previously led Fontana officers on three other reckless and felonious pursuits throughout April and May.

On Thursday, police served a search warrant at a home in the 5000 block of La Sarre Drive. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident, and the e-motorcycle was seized as evidence. The suspect was booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.

Zero-Tolerance Crackdown and Parent Warnings

The Fontana Police Department confirmed that this arrest is part of a city-wide effort to address rising public safety concerns surrounding e-motorcycles and e-bikes.

Moving forward, authorities are enforcing a zero-tolerance policy for unlawful riding. Police also issued a stern warning that parents may be held legally and financially responsible for the dangerous actions of their children on public roads.

Safety Course Recommended

To prevent future incidents, officials are urging all local riders to complete the free online electric bicycle safety course provided by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) before operating these high-powered vehicles.
