Tragedy in Pleasant Prairie Father and Daughter Identified as Victims in Early Morning House Fire

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — A quiet neighborhood in Pleasant Prairie was shattered early Thursday morning by a devastating house fire that claimed the lives of two residents, believed by authorities to be a father and his daughter.

Early Morning Emergency Response

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department and Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the 2600 block of 116th Street around 2:40 a.m. on April 2. Upon arrival, first responders encountered an active blaze and received urgent reports that individuals were trapped inside the residence.

Despite the dangerous conditions, fire crews successfully made entry into the home to conduct a search and rescue operation.

Victims Identified

Once inside, firefighters located two individuals:

  • A 34-year-old woman
  • A 73-year-old man

Authorities have stated they believe the victims are father and daughter. Both were rushed to local hospitals but tragically succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.

Investigation Underway

It took firefighters approximately one hour to bring the flames under control. While the fire was extinguished, the recovery process for the community is just beginning.

As of Friday, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Local investigators are working to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victims during this incredibly difficult time,” local officials noted in a preliminary statement.
